Haunani Kay Trask speech, Jan 17, 1993
“Haunani-Kay Trask speaks at the ʻOnipaʻa event at ʻIolani Palace, Honolulu, on January 17, 1993, the centennial of the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom government.”
You may have seen clips of this speech online; most famously Aunty Haunani saying “We are not American. Say it in your heart say it when you sleep. We will die as Hawaiians, we will never be Americans”. Watch the full speech this mahina if you haven’t before, or listen in again.
