The Mahina is Makaliʻi. The anahulu is Hoʻonui. Lonoikamakahiki! Makahiki season began with the rising of Makaliʻi (Pleiades) at sunset, or now with the first Hilo moon after Makaliʻi rising, and other observed seasonal changes. Shifting from Kū to Lono. Hoʻoilo, wet season began with Welehu. We’re in the midst of Fall and the sun is moving out of Scorpio, soon beginning Sagittarius season. Shifting from water to fire.

Onomea Farm Hub, Project Kanu, and The Lei Bar present: Malama Aina & Farm-to-Lei Monthly Community Day every 3rd & 4th Saturday 2pm-5pm at OFH Farm in Papaikou. Get grounded with Aina and each other. Featuring Meakanu of the month.

Aloha kakou, As the season changes to a time to honor abundance and find fellowship in each other, join us for a hands-on afternoon of connection through community, craft, and cultivation.

This is a 6 month installation in partnership with @theleibar and @projectkanu to:
malama aina & cultivate food
provide education on lei & fiber crafting
foster connection to canoe crops & native plants
build community, share space with each other
keiki fun
get involved in developing our shared Hub spaces/facilities

Get grounded in the soil, learn about this month’s Meakanu o ka Mahina: Uki (native sedge) & Maia (banana). Then craft your own farm-fresh holiday centerpiece using native and canoe plants, fibers, and locally grown blooms.

Closed-toe shoes (rain boots encouraged)

Hat / sunscreen
A dish to share when pau

The first art night fundraiser with Hui Mālama i ke ala ʻŪlili to support huiMAU’s work to re-establish the systems that sustain our community so they can nohopapa, live and thrive here for generations.   • Laulima Art Hui Second Thursdays at 7pm at Laulima Nature Center. Create art in community and learn about native species.

  • Hale O Lono Workday every 2nd Saturday of the month. Dec. 13th, 9am-11:30am. Join them in connecting with ʻāina through traditional Hawaiian fishpond management in Keaukaha.   • A Keaukaha Kalikimaka Craft Fair on Sat Dec. 13th, 8am-2pm. Live music, local artisans, concession. Become a vendor at this form. Contact [email protected]

Onomea Country Market is a family style run corner store and seasonal market located at the end of the scenic route in Pepeʻekeo. We carry local produce and locally made products from Hawaiʻi farmers, artists, and makers. We also carry grocery and convenience items. Along with Piʻilani Kitchen and The Lei Bar, we are apart of Onomea Hub.
